Legacy of Love Luncheon 2009

In 2005, a very generous woman made a very large donation to help us care for sick animals in need. To thank Mary, and those who care for for these special creatures, the Legacy of Love Luncheon and Auction was created. This fundraiser builds on her seed money to help us be able to take care of sick or injured animals that we previously could not afford to help. The most recent foster pet to benefit from this program was Paige.

Here, she sports the patches that had to be shaved to receive the heartworm treatment that saved her life. Paige now enjoys love in her forever home.

We began the day with beautiful music from our flutists, Denise Cooksey and Christina Garcia.

Tanya Kokos, our president, introduces our keynote speaker.

After Dianne Mockler tells the story of her generous donation, Mary reminds us all to be good stewards in the animal kingdom.

Craig tells us about his book series, American Dog Tales. This wonderful series for children teaches great lessons in a humorous, gentle fashion.

Tammy made sure the menu was perfect and delicious, including those mimosas!

Jen Christensen of WHOI was the perfect MC!

Craig signs books for our patrons.

Everyone enjoyed the delicious food.

Tammy & Jen share a minute before the auction begins.

Claire & Kali are ready to check out the winners!

Jen is assisted by Miss Heart of Illinois Outstanding Preteen, Brooklynn Teague.

Weaver Ridge was a beautiful setting for this gem of a day.

Phyllis and Dianne worked very hard to make this event perfect.

Jen announces auction winners.

What fun to win these treats!

Thank you to all who worked so hard!

Special thanks to Craig for his entertaining speech, and for sharing his beautiful work.

At the end of the day, donations totaled almost $10,000!

This money will be well used, and invested, for the future of Foster Pet Outreach, to help us help those most in need.

Thank you to all who came to support our work. We will see you in 2011!
